This powerhouse is a commercial photographer’s dream. A 5.6-megapixel singleplate, full-frame CMOS sensor, and dual DIGIC 6 Image Processors work together to create incredible picture clarity at up to 5 fps. The native ISO range is 1–64, and expandable up to 128. This camera does not have a low pass filter, which allows it to capture spectacular detail even in low light down to EV -2.
The EOS iTR intelligent tracking and resolution system includes a 15,-pixel RGB metering sensor. And a 61-point autofocus system with 41 cross-type sensor offers advanced tracking (which will be familiar if you’ve ever used a Canon Mark III). An advanced system, Canon’s Mirror Vibration Control, drives the mirror by a motor and cams rather than springs, which minimizes its movement. Select the Time Release Lag setting from the menu, and you’ll be able to set the shutter speed so that your shot doesn’t happen until the effects from the camera’s mirror have stopped.
Time lapses have never been easier than with the built-in intervalometer and bulb timer, which make it so that you won’t need a remote. You can also set time lapses to be recorded as an HD video. And speaking of video, although it’s not this camera’s specialty, it still offers 18p full HD at 3 fps, so you’ll be able to capture live moments when needed. The Canon EOS 5DS R has an EF-mount and is compatible with Canon EF lenses with the exception of EF-S lenses. It’s equipped with dual memory card slots, and you can record images on SD or CF cards. There’s no built-in WiFi, but you can access the internet using a WiFi adaptor that fits into the SD drive. (Please note that the WiFi adaptor cannot record images.)
