The Canon 1–4mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II is Canon’s take on the super-telephoto lens and updates the 1–4mm f/4.5-5.6L IS. It’s perfect for shooting outdoors over long distances or shooting subjects at variable distances.
With a focal range of 1–4mm (equivalent to 16–64mm for crop sensors), this lens has been updated with a rotational zoom to replace the push and pull zoom on its predecessor but keeps the tension ring that lets you set the zoom torque. Four stops of image stabilization and auto-tripod-sensing help keep your images clear when you’re on the move or have set up your tripod to wait for your subject to appear.
Chromatic aberrations won’t exist thanks to 21 lens elements, including one fluorite and one Super Ultra-Low Dispersion element, that are broken down into 16 groups. An Air Sphere Coating takes care of ghosting, and a fluorine coating takes care of fingerprints, moisture, and dust. The body is made out of magnesium, which further resists adverse conditions, and a rotating tripod with a removable ring makes it possible to detach the tripod without detaching the lens.
